Books I've Read: February 2008

January 28 to February 5 "In Camelot's Shadow" Sarah Zettel Pages: 512 **4 out of 5** New Author "Z" - Title "C"
1st of a Trilogy (I think). Great book, I really got sucked in to it.

"From the wilds of Moreland to the court of Camelot, a woman searches for her true powers . . . Now ensnared with court and political intrigue, Risa is out of her element. And Euberacon has forced a strong transformation spell upon her. There might be one chance left to save kingdom and soul -- but it would take all the strength and power she had . . . "

February 5 to February 8 “The Guy Not Taken” Jennifer Weiner Pages: 272 **4 out of 5** Title "G"
In general, I'
m not a big fan of anthologies. I've only read one other Jennifer Weiner book (In Her Shoes) and enjoyed it. I enjoyed this one as well. I didn't know that it was an anthology when I picked it up, maybe that helped. Who knows. =)

February 8 to February 11 "Strawberry Shortcake Murder" Joanne Fluke Pages: 320 **4 out of 5** Title "S"
Hannah Swensen - cozy - Book #2 - Just as interesting as the first one. I love all of the recipes (haven't tried any, but they sound Y-U-M). I was a little di
sappointed that it was yet another double murder, but I will continue on to the next book.

"Between perfecting her Cheddar Cheese Apple Pie and Chocolate Crunchies, Hannah's snooping into the coach's private life and not coming up short on suspects. And could Watson's harsh criticism during the judging have given one of the contestants a license to kill? The stakes are rising faster than dough, and Hannah will have to be very careful, because somebody is cooking up a recipe for murder...with Hannah landing on the "necessary ingredients" list."

February 12 to February 16 "Hearts Never Lie" Patricia Pickett Pages: 218 **4 out of 5** New Author "P" - Title "H"
I read this one for review (www.amateurdelivre.com). It's a little rough around the edges. By this I mean that there is a lot of "street slang", but also a lot of spelling mistakes (many appeared unintentional). It is a fantastic book though. The love story that is underne
ath all of the street hustle and drug talk is really well drawn.

February 16 to February 18 "The Ivy Chronicles" Karen Quinn Pages: 352 **4 out of 5** New Author "Q" - Title "I"
This was a super-quick, super-fun read. The writer is quick witted and laugh-out loud funny.

February 18 to February 22 "A Caribbean Mystery"Agatha Christie Pages: 223 **4 out of 5** Title "C"
Another wonderful Miss Marple book. I don't think that Ms. Christie published anything that didn't have a good story, great characters.

"Frail Jane Marple, recovering from a bout of pneumonia, is basking in the warm West Indian sunshine. But she isn't as content as she thinks she ought to be. The scenary is beautiful, yet every day seems the same. Then her new acquaintance, Major Palgrave, dies suddenly, and Miss Marple ebmarks on an investigation of an exotic murder."
